Using this site

Frame Sums provides free dog and cat calculators for educational and informational use. No account or sign-up is required, and there is no charge to use any page on this site.

Not medical advice

The calculations on this site use standard carpentry conventions and the International Residential Code figures cited on each page (board-foot arithmetic on nominal sizes, IRC stair riser and tread limits, roof pitch trigonometry, the 4-inch baluster sphere rule, 16-inch stud spacing), not original research or a substitute for your local building code, your inspector or a structural engineer. Codes are adopted with local amendments, spans depend on species and grade, and the numbers here are for planning and material take-offs. Confirm anything structural before you cut.
